Shipka’s cut-off, embroidered ballgown top was Dior Haute Couture.
HBO’s “Olive Kitteridge” cleaned up in the limited series/movie category, winning six Emmys, including best limited series.
By the time the award was given out, a path had already been worn to the stage by people who had worked on the series.
McDormand starred in the miniseries as an oddball retired school teacher in Maine. “Game of Thrones”, “American Horror Story: Freak Show”, “House of Cards” and “Transparent” top the list of shows with the most nominations. “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” star Andy Samberg is hosting the celebration of television talent for the first time. He also noted that the pay network has said it isn’t concerned about paying customers sharing their passwords.
Popular singing contest “The Voice” won the reality competition category. “Veep” also clinched the comedy writing statuette.
It sure looks good with that best actor trophy, Jeffrey Tambor.
Tambor, who spoke about “the responsibility and the privilege” he was given when he landed the role of Maura Pfefferman in Amazon’s groundbreaking series, dedicated his award to the transgender community.
“I’d like to dedicate my performance and this award to the transgender community”, he said. Director Jill Soloway thanked Amazon.com for allowing the show “incredible artistic freedom”.
Julia Louis-Dreyfus has done it again. Meanwhile, in the comedy category, “Modern Family” has won the past five years, and if it wins a sixth best comedy prize, the hit sitcom will beat “Frasier’s” previous record of five wins.
She said she was quoting her show’s writers in saying, “what a great honor it must be for you to honor me tonight”.
“Donald Trump is running for president, to the delight of uncles everywhere”, Samberg said.
Said Louis-Dreyfus: “It’s getting trickier and trickier to satirize this stuff”.
LOS ANGELES (AP) – Jon Stewart is gone from “The Daily Show” but not forgotten by Emmy voters, who gave the late-night show the best variety talk series award Sunday over another host who’s moved on, Stephen Colbert. “Thank you for your inspiration thank you for letting us be part of the change”.
Janney, who plays a dysfunctional parent, thanked series producer Chuck Lorre for creating a deeply flawed character and “thinking of me to play her”.
Janney’s first four Emmys came for her work on “The West Wing”.
Host Andy Samberg prepares to present a coffee mug to Lorne Michaels at the 67th Primetime Emmy Awards on Sunday, September 20, 2015, at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles. A bearded, shaggy-haired Samberg emerged to boast to contenders Jon Hamm and Kerry Washington that he had them and everyone else covered.
The men are faring little better, with Pablo Schreiber fanning himself with his hands and Jonathan Banks ditching his tuxedo jacket and telling fans, “You know how stupid we all are to be out in this!”
LOS ANGELES, Calif. – The Emmy Awards, television’s annual celebration of itself, are always a big night. There was some initial confusion on Twitter as many people and media outlets were reporting that the green ribbon was for mental health awareness, but that was actually a lime green ribbon that was worn by a number of attendees at last year’s EMMY Awards to raise awareness for mental health in honor of Robin Williams.
