Wisconsin routs Miami (Ohio) 58-0, wins Chryst’s home debut
“We’d love to scrimmage them in the spring”. He gained 16 yards on eight carries in limited action.
“We got a long ways to go with that group”, Chryst said. “I thought we did”. “I knew that something was wrong and I needed help”. Now the betting odds for the game have the Badgers listed as a big favorite to pick up the win.
Clement ran for 969 yards and nine touchdowns on 147 carries last season as the top backup to Heisman Trophy runner-up Melvin Gordon.
The RedHawks forced another field goal with 1:22 left. He had a key interception in the first half, and caught three passes for 30 yards on the other side of the ball.
“We had some good confidence on defense as we were making them drive the football”, Martin said.
For the sake of the nerves of Badgers fans, though, let’s hope that Wisconsin games are a bit closer for the rest of the season.
There hasn’t been time for someone to step up like an Amari Cooper but the receiving corps is loaded with talented guys ready to prove it. Against West Virginia, the majority of the yards went to Amari Cooper and DeAndrew White. Miami turned the ball over three times in the first half, which led to 10 Wisconsin points.
“They pride themselves on smashing teams in the mouth”, Martin said.
Kummer was sacked once for a loss of 6, but was knocked to the ground after several passes.
Miami (OH) struggled all day trying to move the football against a motivated Wisconsin defense. They essentially brought back their entire secondary this season, so they have the talent, but whatever changes need to be made have to happen against Troy and Hawaii in the next two Saturdays. But there was also the wide holes the unit opened for the SEC Offensive Player of the Week Henry to run through. He tossed two TDs without an interception.
“It was fun”, he said. “A lot of little things that we need to tighten up on and get better at”.
“I think this year being able to see him stay healthy, he’s really shown how good a player he can be”. Alabama pounded the rock for 238 yards and four touchdowns against Wisconsin, but also got great quarterback play and 264 yards through the air. He connected on two touchdown passes to receiver Rob Wheelwright and one to tight end Austin Traylor in a dominant opening half that ended with Wisconsin leading 37-0.
The Badgers held the RedHawks to 158 total yards on offense, including minus-3 rushing yards.
Badgers running back Dare Ogunbowale inherited the bulk of plays on the ground in the absence of Corey Clement, who was sidelined with a groin injury. The Badgers welcome a Miami team coming off a win with FCS Presbyterian last week.
The RedHawks return to Oxford, Ohio next weekend for the homecoming game against University of Cincinnati. The game was interrupted in the third quarter due to lightning.
