Jenna Coleman confirms she will leave ‘Doctor Who’ this season
Coleman first entered the TARDIS alongside Matt Smith’s 11th Doctor in a 2012 episode titled Asylum Of The Daleks. “I think she’s wonderful in the show, and she’s my favorite companion”. Crowned at 18, she turned into a powerful monarch whose time in power was said to have been twisted with unpleasantness and controversy.
BBC reported that ITV’s drama “Victoria” would throw light on the early years of the queen’s 63 year reign.
Coleman made her debut on Doctor Who in the seventh season premiere back in September 2012.
Coleman refused to give any specific details, but she did say that her departure will be told in a “really good” story arc, which hopefully would be appreciated by the viewers. The long-running show is now on its ninth iteration, with Peter Capaldi as the Twelfth Doctor. The actress revealed that she is leaving Doctor Who and will be tackling the role of Queen Victoria for a new miniseries.

Dr. Who spoilers tease that the show will return for Season 9 on Saturday September 19, and Jenna Coleman’s exit is rumored to air sometime during October 2015.
Speaking to Nick Grimshaw on his Radio One breakfast show on Friday, the 29-year-old admitted that she is stepping down from the role of Clara Oswald. However, last year’s Christmas Special confirmed that her character Clara would stay for at least another series.
“Yeah, there’s not a lot of job where you have a space ship, an alien as your best mate and get to run away from monsters”. She shared that she’s loved being on Doctor Who – calling it a “unique beast” – and assured fans that her departure was carefully planned.
“[Queen Victoria] is a vivid, strong, inspirational and utterly fascinating woman in British history and I can’t wait to tell her story”, related Coleman.
