Swift helps out a fan in need-INSIDE Korea JoongAng Daily
She donated the latter amount – presumably in three chunks of $15,000 and a $5,000 kicker – to the Naomi’s Fight Against Cancer campaign, which is dedicated to a young girl recently diagnosed with an aggressive form of leukemia.
“Taylor Swift’s donation was so generous that it required us to increase the donation limit on the platform”, Rob Solomon, GoFundMe’s CEO, on the company’s website.
The person who posted the donation on the fundraising site GoFundMe writes that there will be more concerts, but the focus should be on getting Naomi better.
On Thursday, GoFundMe announced that it had decided to raise its giving limit from $15,000 to $50,000.
A spokeswoman for Swift says the singer doesn’t confirm charitable contributions. The new limit was inspired by a generous donation from Taylor Swift that had exceeded the crowdfunding site’s current limit.
Well, the video got to Taylor Swift, and while she hasn’t acknowledged it on her social media pages, she did much more. In January, she sent a fan a check to help with her student loans.
Along with the donation, the poster left a note calling Naomi “beautiful and brave”. “I’m sending the biggest hugs to you and your family”.
Naomi’s aunt, Andrea Percival, said that the entire family is appreciative and teary-eyed at Swift’s generosity. “…this was completely unexpected”.
Naomi, who lives in the town of Queen Creek, was immediately hospitalized at Cardon Children’s Medical Center in Mesa.
Her cancer must be treated aggressively, which means she can’t leave the hospital during the duration of her treatment, which can last from six to nine months, according to a YouTube video her family made.
As a result, she can not attend Swift’s August concert in Phoenix. Swift’s large donation forced the crowd-funding website to raise the maximum donation ceiling, too!
“That someone with that celebrity status would go that far is incredible”, Percival said.
