Dave Grohl: Emmys Cancelled Foo Fighters Performance
Over the weekend in Anaheim, Foo fans received an wonderful performance of Rush’s Tom Sawyer from the band and special guest Jon Davison of Yes.
A rep for head Foo Dave Grohl reportedly told TMZ the band was ready to perform – which would’ve made it the first rock band to play the Emmys.
Uh-oh, did the Emmys really diss Dave Grohl?
Sunday night’s Primetime Emmys were one of those rare extravagant awards shows that actually ended on time, but being punctual appeared to come at the expense of a Foo Fighters performance.
Rocking on: Grohl performs, with cast, at a Children’s Hospital benefit concert in San Francisco on September 17. The site says that the band wanted to play a song from Sonic Highways, but Fox didn’t like that and wanted them to play half of that song and then half of their classic hit “Learn to Fly“.
However, the band refused to do a mash-up or cut their songs.
The Foos won two Emmys for the HBO “Sonic Highways” docuseries. Grohl narrates the series, which takes viewers on a tour of eight different cities’ musical histories, from which he derived the lyrics for the new studio album. However, as Grohl explains to TMZ, Fox pulled the plug on their show with just days to go before the ceremony.
Stylish Grohl wore a black velvet suit and leaned on his cane as he walked hand-in-hand with his wife.
