Fantasy Football Podcast: Week 2 Recap 9-21-15
The biggest advice I can give you right now is to stick with your guns. We never hope for injuries, but being realistic we know those injuries will impact production.
I told you about Jones in August and it looks like his train may arrive even sooner than expected. “That wasn’t part of his deal a year ago , and we can’t let it creep in”.
A lot of people will jump on the Tyrod Taylor bandwagon after Buffalo’s shootout loss to New England. It helps Michael Floyd (one target) was shut out again amid his finger issues, but we can not advise Fitz in Week 3 against the 49ers, even if they were ripped this week.
The Broncos D has scored a total of 37 fantasy points so far this year and looks much more formidable than in years past.
Andy Dalton remains criminally underowned on most platforms.
Week 2 of the NFL season was a mixed bag for weekly fantasy football league players. Yet, for some reason, they’re only owned in less than 40 percent in all NFL.com leagues. He was clearly the top option for Atlanta. What are you waiting for?
I mentioned Denver’s Anderson above, but now we’ve seen two games where even if his weak O-Line does open a hole for him, he doesn’t hit it very hard.
It’s amusing how the top-scoring RB in standard leagues through Week 2 is on the waiver wire in 45 percent of leagues, but DeAngelo Williams only has value with LeVeon Bell out. With a low O/U the value for Williams just isn’t there. He won’t supplant Morris as the starter, but as the Skins look to take the pressure off Kirk Cousins, he probably won’t have to. Tevin Coleman is out for a few weeks and Freeman is a RB2 while Coleman is out. And Bears fans won’t forget about that 108-yard kickoff return to open Sunday’s game either. Ebron’s caught a touchdown in two straight games and has only three fewer targets than Detroit’s No. 2 receiver Golden Tate. During his absence, Devonta Freeman took the reigns. How unusual? With Jones running for 123 yards in Week 2, after Morris gained 121 yards in Week 1, the Redskins are the first National Football League team since 2006 to have two backs each gain at least 100 yards on the ground in a season’s first two games.
Even with T.Y. Hilton getting healthy, Donte Moncrief should be owned in all leagues moving forward. Andre Ellington’s problem is he can’t stay on the field. Peyton Manning showed some life at Kansas City out of the shotgun, and that boosted wideouts Demaryius Thomas and Emmanuel Sanders. Rishard Matthews also gets a bump. Yes, he caught 6 passes for 115 yards, but gained almost half of those after catching a deflected pass at the beginning of the game. Did you miss the Fantasy Football Hour on Sunday? Somewhat surprisingly, Pittsburgh seems to trust him. Antonio Gate returns in Week 5. There’s no stopping him. Well, Manning looks pretty good after last Thursday, and the Lions have been beat up by opposing tight ends.
Here are five sleepers you should consider for Week 3.
Another rookie who is making big plays and forcing his coaches to reconsider his role.
Analysis: It’ll be Brandon Weeden handling the offense.
QBs Cam Newton (28.4), Colin Kaepernick (26.5) and Russell Wilson (23.04) – Have you seen us write about a love for the rushing quarterbacks as FanDuel plays?
The Romo injury is just disastrous for the Cowboys.
Analysis: He might be out until the playoffs, so the Dallas passing attack is in trouble. Green will give you two more quality starts if you need him.
Speaking of involved, Vernon Davis has 13 targets through the first two weeks. I fear he will not last, which would be a shame, because he brings an element to the Patriots’ offense that no other current Patriot can.
It’s time to grab Cole Beasley off your waiver wire and watch the receptions pile up.
Most players don’t have great weeks every week, and many bounce back after a lackluster scoring game with a monster one that reinforces your opinions of them.
If you don’t have major injury concerns, Matt Jones is the only player available in most leagues this week worth a high waiver claim.
