The Young Stars of Hollywood Rock the 2015 Emmys Red Carpet
Black gowns ruled the red carpet, as Taraji P. Henson opted for a sexy, chic number – and she wasn’t the only one!
Jon Stewart is gone from “The Daily Show” but not forgotten by Emmy voters, who gave the late-night show the best variety talk series award Sunday over another host who’s moved on, Stephen Colbert.
With arms linked, the “Mom” and “Veep” stars spoke about their wins, the discomfort of posing for photos on the red carpet, and the time Louis-Dreyfus met Mary Tyler Moore during a photo shoot and started to bawl uncontrollably in her presence.
“I will do anything I need to”, Henson said with a laugh.
Tambor won the award for lead actor in a comedy series for his portrayal of the transgender woman Maura Pfefferman on the Amazon show.
“I’m going to refuse to let a statue – not that it doesn’t matter, if I took it home I’m excited – I don’t want to make it about a material thing, but about the moment and the feelings and the emotions and the changes that behind that”, she said. Boyfriend Laurent Claude Gaudette seemed happy to just be standing by her side. But while presenting on stage, Henson appeared to be a bit tongue tied as she read her lines from the teleprompter. “She is nothing without her family”. They include Viola Davis and Taraji P. Henson, who could become the first non-white victor in the best drama series actress category. Though Mad Men’s actors have never won for their roles in the show, Jon Hamm, Elizabeth Moss and Christina Hendricks are all nominated. “It is about that time for her to get these nominations and awards that she has always been striving for”, he said.
She thanked series creator Chuck Lorre for “creating such a deeply flawed character and immediately thinking of me to play her”.
“I love to be in a show that is a voice of understanding, compassion and radical inclusion”, Whitford said in his acceptance speech.
The stars certainly came to play at the 2015 Emmys! Her flashbacks show a young girl from the “hood who rocked that classic Salt-N-Pepa hairstyle, served time in prison and then comes out kicking ass, taking names and wearing a lot of leopard print and fur”.
When we left, Lucious Lyon (Terrence Howard) was in jail for murder, Jamal (Jussie Smollett) was in charge of Empire and Cookie, Hakeem (Bryshere Y. Gray), Andre (Trai Byers) and the rest were fighting for the soul of Empire Entertainment, or at least a piece of the lucrative pie.
