Amazon Celebrates Emmy Wins With $67 Prime Deal
The normal price for Amazon Prime is $99 a year.
Amazon offered a similar discount following its Golden Globes wins in January, when it offered a Prime membership for $72 in honor of it having been the 72nd Annual Golden Globes Awards.
By tying the Amazon Emmy wins to a sale on Prime memberships, Amazon has a chance to promote its Amazon Prime Instant Video service to customers who may now only be hearing about the company’s efforts in producing television thanks to the mainstream attention generated by the awards ceremony.
With major awards comes vindication, and Amazon seems to be putting a large focus – and big bucks – into the future of its online TV service, with recent purchases like the exclusive rights to the ex-hosts of hit United Kingdom show Top Gear, which reportedly came on board at an astronomical price. The deal is only available for new members. Prime members are some of Amazon’s most loyal and active customers and the company does everything it can to drive people to sign up. Earlier this year Amazon Original kids series Tumble Leaf took home five Daytime Emmy wins including Outstanding Preschool Children’s Animated Program.
If you’ve been on the fence about subscribing to Amazon Prime, Friday is your best bet to make a choice.
