Joe Rogan Says Chad Mendes Should Be Favored To Win At UFC
– Interim UFC Featherweight Title contenders Chad Mendes and Conor McGregor traded verbal jabs at yesterday’s UFC 189 pre-fight press conference. According to Bovada.lv, McGregor’s odds to win improved from -175 a couple of days ago to -190, with Mendes holding steady as a +155 underdog.
As the hours ticked away before their battle for the UFC featherweight crown Saturday at the MGM Grand Arena in Las Vegas, Mendes (17-2) preyed on the perception that McGregor is an inferior wrestler, but the Irishman quickly shot back.
McGregor, dressed like someone who was probably able to sell you some meth, was left speechless.
“He’ll do absolutely none of those things”, McGregor said.
Frequent podcast guest and friend Brendan Schaub weighed in on the fight and believes that if Chad Mendes emerges victorious on Saturday night, his star status won’t compare to McGregor’s. I don’t know what that is.
“What happened was, I got a phone call from a person in the UFC”.
“I am that he used his make a wish foundation to have a phone call with me”.
“They were thinking maybe if he got a little bit better, we could fly him out to Vegas”.
McGregor was supposed to face off with reigning king Jose Aldo in what was one of the most promoted and hyped up fights in the history of the sport mainly due to McGregor’s trash talk, but Aldo was unfortunately forced out of the bout due to a rib injury.
The Dubliner said: “His facial structure will be rearranged. When a man is close to death, that is what he looks to do, he looks to buddy up”. “And no one else even watching can see it. It’s only between you and him”.
“I think Chad is the substitute, the B-level”, McGregor said.
Mendes, who previously lost to Aldo, stepped up for the challenge.
Based on his reputation as one of the most ferocious strikers in UFC, the betting lines favor McGregor to win by knockout or technical knockout at 10/11.
“I am honoured that I got the opportunity to speak with him”. He will have a few scrambles in him, then he will break.
McGregor has a succinct fight prediction, too: “Four minutes into the first round, he will be unconscious”.
