Rolling Stones ‘Exhibitionism’ shows off in London | euronews, le mag
A poster promoting a new career-spanning Rolling Stones art exhibit has created a scandal in London – and a replacement image drew a sharp rebuke from the band. As the intro gives way to the first verse, the perspective shifts via an old fashion television set and the lyrics are presented through a montage of live action photos and film clips of the band’s original lineup, which includes: the late Brian Jones, ex- bassist Bill Wyman along with current core members Mick Jagger, Keith Richards and Charlie Watts.
The poster was the work of British designer Mark Norton.
The agencies who approve the ads on London’s transport network, Clear Channel for bus stops, and Exterion Media for the London underground, then suggested that the lewd logo could be moved up, over the woman’s belly button. They will launch on Monday [July 13, 2015], while the original posters will be unveiled elsewhere nationwide.
“””(I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction” was added to the USA Library of Congress National Recording Registry in 2006, two years after Rolling Stone magazine ranked it No. 2 on a list of “The 500 Greastest Songs of All Time” (behind Bob Dylan’s “Like a Rolling Stone“).
EXHIBITIONISM will run from April 6 2016 – September 2016 at London’s Saatchi Gallery, where it will occupy nine themed galleries spread across two entire floors.
This latest addition is dedicated to the band’s Hyde Park concert from July 5, 1969, reports the Superdeluxeedition website. The July 10 release dates of the vinyl reissue coincides with the day that “Satisfaction” topped Billboard’s Hot 100 a half century ago.
