Noah new French Davis Cup captain
Noah will replace Arnaud Clement who was sacked last week.
With Noah expected to hold a news conference at Roland Garros on Tuesday, Clement was quoted in sports daily L’Equipe saying he was disappointed with how his departure was handled.
Noah, who has reinvented himself into a successful singer, captained France to the 1991 and 1996 Davis Cup titles.
Yannick Noah has been named France Davis Cup captain for the third time, the French Tennis Federation announced in a statement on Monday. He also won the French Open in 1983. The differentiation between his tyrant discourse and his casual looks was striking: Sporting a dim top, a cardigan on his exposed mid-section and a long jewelry, Noah said the current French players should be oversaw in an alternate manner than in the course of recent years. He believes the generation led by Jo-Wilfried Tsonga can help land the trophy for the 10th time. He said that they all conceded to his venture.
“I have a clear plan”, said the 55-year-old Noah. “It’s different to them, they never heard a wonder such as this”, said Noah, without uncovering the down to earth subtle elements of his methodology. “I told them that if we give it all, all together, we have a chance to win”.
“I know that we could have done better against Switzerland and against Britain”, Noah said. “But why? My job is to find the answer”.
In 1997, he also led the Fed Cup team to their first title. “I’ve been in contact with the tennis world forever”.
The grand slam victor , Davis Cup victor and iconic French sportsman was in charge of the team on two occasions in the 90s.
