Dead, 5 Hurt After Woman Plows auto Into Livermore Health Club
A vehicle crashed through the doors of a Livermore gym Tuesday morning, injuring several people, according to police.
The collison occurred at the Lifestyle Fitness gymnasium in the 1100 block of E. Stanley Boulevard at around 6:25 a.m., Officer Traci Rebiejo said.
The vehicle shattered the gym’s glass front doors and kept going until it came to a stop more than 20 feet inside the building.
Authorities have not yet identified her. One was in critical condition and the others suffered moderate injuries not considered life-threatening, Rebiejo said. The survivors were being treated for cuts and bruises, police said. Her name has not been released.
An elderly woman, possibly experiencing “pedal confusion”, plowed her Mercedes SUV through a gym where a number of people were in the middle of a group exercise class in Livermore early this morning.
Police say they believe this was an accident and the driver has not been charged.
Police are investigating the incident, but so far say it does not look like drugs or alcohol played a role.
