Pittsburgh Steelers Angry Over Patriots Headset Malfunction, League — NFL News
Ben Roethlisberger finished had 26 of 38 passes caught, with 351 yards passing, a touchdown and an interception.
Or both. Can it be both?
The NFL later issued a statement, which noted that the communications equipment is provided by the league.
The Steelers coaches claim their headsets were not properly functioning for the 1st quarter of last night’s game… and they’re pointing the finger squarely at the Pats.
Well, didn’t that just go ahead and clear everything up then?
An article on the Steelers website indicated that during the game, the headset issue would surface for the Steelers, but mysteriously disappear when an National Football League official attempted to check the Patriots headsets.
ESPN was the first to report about the alleged assault. Linebacker Lawrence Timmons said any issues on defense were a product of noise in the stadium and the fact it was the first game.
But Mr Tomlin told reporters that he and his staff “always” have issues with the communication systems at the Boston-area stadium.
“We had a lot of problems”, his counterpart Bill Belichick said.
“The issue was promptly resolved and there were no further problems for the remainder of the game”. We ended up having to signal a couple our plays offensively, and we couldn’t get them in.
Brady had wide-open receivers almost all night, going 25 of 32 for 288 yards. They just try to fix it, and they tell you it’s up or it’s down or whatever.
Belichick seemed noticeably less frustrated with the situation than Tomlin. What do you do on an NFL Sunday without the Steelers?
UPDATE: The Pittsburgh Steelers will NOT file a complaint to the NFL regarding their communication problems at Gillette Stadium on Thursday night, but the league will look into it anyway. National Football League security, which did not witness the exchange with police, afterward interviewed Daniel about the entire incident, according to sources.
I’m truly not sure which is worse. The Patriots wound up winning 28-21, behind Tom Brady’s 288 passing yards and four touchdowns – three of which were hauled in by tight end Rob Gronkowski.
Wait… another allegation of cheating??
Sigh. I thought yesterday, the NFL’s season opener, was the day that I got off the Patriots Cheat Beat, but a yeoman’s work is never done, so, another day, another dollar.
Fair or not, New England has become a magnet for controversy.
Perhaps this is an oversimplification, but why not give every coach a phone, a bluetooth headset and cover any roaming charges. It didn’t appear to affect communicating between the sidelines and the quarterback’s helmet. And yet… He went on to say that Coach Tomlin was letting people listen to his headset on the sideline, and it was playing the Patriots radio broadcast. That includes former Jaguars head coach Jack Del Rio, who said after a 2005 playoff loss in Foxborough that the team’s headsets at one point “mysteriously malfunctioned”.
