The Daily Show with Hannibal Buress Audition Tape
The episode opened with Buress stopping by “Conan“, and featured his supposed audition for “The Daily Show“. “With Hannibal Buress” will be a mixture of sketch comedy and man-on-the-street interviews. The premise is that Buress, 33, will offer up his perspective on whatever’s going on in the world.
The comedian took a shot at Bill Cosby on Wednesday night in the premiere of his Comedy Central show, “Why?”
Beyond this, not much is known about “Why” – taped each week in front of a studio audience before air. “Why?” seems tailor-made to make Buress the next subject of “Comedian Finds ideal Way to Explain Topic” headlines, a la John Oliver, Amy Schumer and Jon Stewart.
Buress has been credited as the one who helped bring the accusations to light, but he has appeared to try to distance himself from the controversy. Now, “Why?” is premiering days after unsealed court documents revealed that, in 2005, Cosby admitted to getting drugs to give to women for sex. Buress asks mid-audition. “I thought “The Daily Show” was a euphemism for once a week”.
But Buress – a 32-year-old Chicago native – has a big and growing fan base, which reveres his stand-up work (“Hannibal Buress Live from Chicago” was a 2014 hit for Comedy Central).
