David Bowie Wrote The Theme For New TV Series The Last Panthers

He released his most recent album of original music, “The Next Day” in 2013, with a compilation album the following year.

David Bowie has written and recorded an original tune that will be heard during the opening credits of a new TV series called The Last Panthers that will air in a variety of European countries this fall. The piece of music he laid before us embodied every aspect of our characters and the series itself – dark, brooding, attractive and sentimental (in the best possible incarnation of this word).

Bowie’s works include the music for a BBC television version of Bertolt Brecht’s play “Baal”, in which he acted. “I still can’t fathom what actually happened…”

Bowie wrote “Real Cool World” for the film Cool World in 1993. Bowie’s 1997 single “I’m Afraid of Americans” originally appeared on the Showgirls soundtrack in 1995 before it was remade for Earthling. Anyway, Bowie’s insane personas and stylistic shifts are always interesting, and his latest identity is no different: According to The Hollywood Reporter, Bowie has now transformed himself into a guy who writes TV show themes.

Bowie is now working on the musical Lazarus, which is based on the science fiction film The Man Who Fell to Earth, that starred the Starman. Lately, he’s contributed to stage productions, fashion campaigns and has even been the subject of a United Kingdom professor’s impersonation experiment.

The Last Panthers will screen on CANAL + France and on Sky Atlantic in the United Kingdom , Ireland, Italy, Germany and Austria this autumn.
