Ravens obtain CB Davis from Dolphins for 7th-round pick
The Baltimore Ravens improved their depth at cornerback and perhaps sent a message to their defensive backs on Monday when they traded a seventh-round pick to the Miami Dolphins for Will Davis.
If the 2013 third-round pick is inactive again in Week Three, it won’t be with the Dolphins.
His career has thus far been marred by injuries. Born May 8, 1990 in Torrance, California, Davis attended Central Valley High School in Veradale, Washington.
Davis, who has a reputation as a ball hawk, has 25 tackles and two pass deflections in the 15 games he’s played over the previous two seasons. He did enjoy a solid preseason, including a pair of interceptions in the exhibition finale.
The Dolphins considered releasing him before the start of the season. Brent Grimes, Jamar Taylor and Brice McCain are the top three, and Bowman, McCain and rookie Tony Lippett are also on the 53-man roster.
The trade frees up a roster spot and the Dolphins might have areas of need this week.
Defensive end Cam Wake and left tackle Branden Albert both have hamstring injuries.
