Dungeon Defenders 2 arrives on PlayStation 4 in pre-alpha form
While Dungeon Defenders II will be free to play after its full launch you’ll have to pay to access the pre-alpha.
The real question is of course, should a pre-alpha game be on sale on the Playstation 4?
The title was first announced for the PlayStation 4 in 2014, and it has also been up for PC gamers via Steam Early Access.
Sony has been publicly discussing paid early access on PlayStation 4 since July previous year . This version of the Tower Defence game will feature two characters, controller support, and two-player local co-op. It will be available in a pre-alpha state though and isn’t free to play to begin with – you’ll need to purchase a “currency bundle”.
Despite not exactly being labeled as “early access”, the experience will be for all intents and purposes just like early access, providing developers with feedback and stress testing the game’s online components. This appears to have changed though with the upcoming release of Dungeon Defenders 2. Once Dungeon Defenders 2 officially launches it will be supported by “ethical microtransactions”.
Phillipe Asher, of Trendy Entertainment, warned that Dungeon Defenders 2 is still being developed and so some features will be ahead of the PC version, but others will arrive afterwards.
