Queens Park Rangers make two changes for Hull City clash — Team News
Hull City have made a patchy start to life back in the Championship, however not as bad as Queens Park Rangers, with the two recently relegated teams set to go head-to-head this weekend for the first time since their respective drop into the second tier of English Football.
It was the striker’s sixth in his past seven games and gave Chris Ramsey’s team a lead that was cancelled out by an excellent header from Michael Dawson, who was a central figure in Hull manager Steve Bruce’s tactical approach.
QPR took the chance where Hull, perhaps scarred by their costly dalliance with midfielder Jimmy Bullard’s damaged ligaments, were afraid to do so.
Rangers will now look to next Friday and the trip down the road to Fulham – at a ground where they have not won since January 1980.
“It was a good finish”. Austin had agreed personal terms and was on the verge of joining them from Burnley when Hull had second thoughts following a medical.
Alex Bruce headed James Perch’s cross behind and Chery’s corner was headed home by Austin, the goal signalled by the referee’s assistant despite the efforts of Robertson on the line. On the hour mark Chery had the goal at his mercy and missed from a yard out, when he definitely should have scored.
It took QPR 13 minutes to get a strike on goal as Massimo Luongo pressured ‘keeper Allan McGregor into punching the ball clear, it was all a sign of things to come for QPR. “I don’t know what it costs but there’s big prizes in this league too, to try and get out of it”.
Like Bruce, Ramsey was ultimately content with a point to add to a midweek draw with Blackburn.
He said: “I think it would have been more than a smash-and-grab had we got the victor, because we played quite well”.
