Brother of wrestler Kurt Angle jailed in wife’s homicide
The brother of champion pro wrestler and 1996 Olympic gold medalist Kurt Angle has been charged with a single count of criminal homicide after his wife died early Sunday following a fight at their home in Pennsylvania. Paramedics and police responded to a domestic disturbance call at around 6:24am local time to find Donna Angle unconscious and not breathing.
It follows a domestic incident in which Donna Angle was found dead. The Post-Gazette.com is reporting that David Angle is being held in Allegheny County, awaiting arraignment on the homicide charge.
During the argument, Angle’s wife attempted to him him so he grabbed both of her arms and pulled her up off the couch.
“Due to the situation Kurt would appreciate if you can honor his family’s request for privacy at his hard time”, Dave Hawk, the manager of Kurt Angle, said in a text message to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.
David Angle has reportedly made a statement to police indicating that he had an disagreement with his wife over her drinking last night.
County homicide detective Scott Towne stated that Angle told him all of their arguments surrounded alcohol in their home.
Police say her husband, 62-year-old David Angle, was responsible for her death.
Angle’s attempts to revive his wife were unsuccessful. “I just can’t believe it. I’m in shock”.
A neighbor told WPXI that the couple “had their problems” over the years “but nothing like this”. It is a shock.
Neither has Dormont’s mayor and former police chief, Phil Ross, who lives nearby. Kurt Angle hasn’t publicly commented on it and likely won’t speak about the very personal tragedy that has rocked his family.
