Tottenham speedster Yedlin to get Sunderland ch
Manchester City’s Sergio Aguero congratulates teammate Kevin de Bruyne after De Bruyne’s goal on Tuesday night in City’s 4-1 League Cup victory over Sunderland at the Stadium of Light.
First, he saw his shot come back off the post, hit Mannone and trickle over the line before finishing confidently into the far corner for City’s fourth.
Kevin De Bruyne’s move to Manchester City from Wolfsburg may eventually fall into the category if he continues his goal scoring form.
Struggling Sunderland, bottom of the Premier League table after six games without victory, replied courtesy of an 83rd-minute header by close-season signing Ola Toivonen.
De Bruyne doubled their lead soon after, beating Mannone at his near post having been put through by Sterling and the former Liverpool man was heavily involved in the next two Blues goals. I train really hard every day and if I play at Sunderland, I intend to enjoy it’. Only Advocaat knows that, and he wasn’t exactly in the mood to be praising any of his players after Sunderland’s latest defeat. “We scored four handsome goals”.
“Billy (Jones) has been doing well but he won’t be part of the squad tomorrow”. “There’s no sense in calling names because everybody could see the mistakes, simple mistakes and it’s not possible to make those mistakes at this level, especially not against a team like that”.
Yedlin is expected to make head coach Jurgen Klinsmann’s roster for the U.S. National Team’s upcoming CONCACAF Cup match against regional rivals Mexico on October 10 at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, Calif. Yedlin has appeared in 15 games for the US team this year. Fabian Johnson has yet to return to Borussia Moenchengladbach after suffering a calf strain in August, while Tim Chandler is out of the picture with his own injury. This has always been Yedlin’s weakest link, his defensive positioning.
The result and, in particular, the manner of the performance, is likely to increase the pressure on Sunderland boss Dick Advocaat who admitted ahead of the game that he would step down if he felt someone better was ready to replace him. He has the speed and strength to deal with most players in one-on-one situations, but he can fall victim to ball watching and losing his marks by getting sucked into bad positions. Rubio Rubin, who was not released for the U-23s, scored his first goal of the season in FC Utrecht’s 2-0 win over ONS Sneek in the KNVB Cup.
