‘Once Upon A Time’ Producers Promise LGBT Relationship In Season 5
After confirming the return of Mulan, Once Upon a Time executive producers Adam Horowitz and Edward Kitsis promised that the popular fantasy show will finally include an LGBT relationship in its upcoming season. Chung’s last appearance on Once was back in Season 3, when she left with Robin Hood (Sean Maguire) and his Merry Men after Aurora (Sarah Bolger) revealed that she was pregnant with Prince Philip’s (Julian Morris) child.

“I would say that we know that [the LGBT] community been big supporters of the show”.
Kitsis cut in: “But it is something that we’re going to do this year”. “We do want to give a taste of where Mulan’s been and what she’s been up to and what she’s going through….”
Kitsis quickly added that it was something they definitely plan on exploring this year but their comments leave it vague on whether or not it would be with Mulan and Aurora, any of the many new characters entering the show this season or even older characters – or any combination of the above. “This is the world we live in”.
Whoever is involved in the relationship, it will be the first time that “Once Upon a Time” will explore this kind of story. Other familiar characters would also be back on future episodes. During the premeire episode, Emma’s family and friends will go searching for her, not realizing she was transported to the Enchanted Forest and is no longer in their “world”. In addition to fearless anti-princess Merida’s inclusion, we’ve now learned that Mulan will be making a grand reappearance.
Aside from the alleged LGBT plot, there are surprises from the episodes that would “bring love, loss and destiny to the forefront”, Hypable wrote.
Jamie Chung, who was absent from series three is slated to appear in multiple season five episodes in both the first and second halves of the season.
