Lynch gets ball, Seahawks still lose to Rams 34-31 in OT
Cary Williams with the fumble return touchdown. The 34 points that the Seahawks defense gave up tied for the most they had allowed in nearly over four years.
The St. Louis Rams opened the 2015 season on Sunday with a very exciting overtime victory against the Seattle Seahawks.
After the game, with the league poised to reinstate a $75,000 fine (and to slap him with another) if he didn’t talk to the media, what did Lynch have to say about the seven-months-too-late decision to run instead of pass?
“I’ve got to go 100 percent on my opportunities”, Bailey said.
Right guard Rodger Saffold and the rest of the St. Louis Rams’ offensive line heard all the bad reviews before Sunday’s season opener. Kicker Steven Hauschka tried an onside kick to start overtime that was covered by rookie wide receiver Bradley Marquez. That said Carroll has not had much luck when it comes to short yardage situations with Lynch carrying or not carrying the ball in the last two games that counted. But, they are still at a stalemate, despite players going into the offices of GM John Schneider and Head Coach Pete Carroll, and begging them, “Bring Kam Chancellor home”. Lynch got engulfed by half their defense to stunningly end it.
After separating the pile, Marquez and the Rams realized there was a flag on the field. They are facing the Green Bay Packers next Sunday.
“Once we started getting back there we just try to stay consistent”, Quinn said of his fellow defensive linemen. Seattle fell behind in both games, rallied to take the lead, surrendered the lead once again and still had a chance to win before decisions made with only one yard to gain led to defeat. “We just didn’t”. Would Chancellor have made the play and helped the Seahawks seal the win? Wilson should have ran the ball, or throw a pass, although Pete Carroll has to be afraid of those things by now.
This one had far less on the line. “He could have played better”.
Donald’s big performance comes as no surprise as Fisher had high praise for Donald when asked about the Rams six sacks on Russell Wilson: “Of course we want to start fast”. Ride the horse that brung ya, so to speak, and let Marshawn Lynch do what he does best: get the tough yards between the tackles. “We think we should get it”.
Afterwards, the Rams reminded Wilson of his braggadocio, laying it on thick via their own official Twitter account.
At that point, with 4:39 left, the game should have been over.
And that’s what Seattle did all game long. This rookie is showing Hester-like skills as a return man. He ignited the offense with a 57 yard punt return for a touchdown in the first quarter.
Williams then continued the new-guy touchdown parade. In the last five weeks, Lockett has scored four touchdowns from special teams to catching the ball on offense.
Unfortunately for the Seahawks, the two lasting memories of their past two games will be calling for a pass over a run at the 1-yard line and kicking an onside kick to start overtime.
The Rams drove 84 yards in 3:46.
(At) Denver 19, Baltimore 13: Former Ravens safety Darian Stewart, who followed Gary Kubiak from Baltimore to Denver over the winter, snatched the ball from tight end Crockett Gillmore in the end zone with 28 seconds left to seal a win for the Broncos. Lance Kendricks’ 37-yard touchdown with less than a minute to play sent the game to overtime.
Bailey spent a few moments alone on the Seahawks’ bench after the tying score, looking into the ground with his forearms on each thigh and hands on his chin.
