Los Angeles Lakers News: Shaq Warns Kobe Not To Retire Too Soon
In his last healthy season (one that ended just before the playoffs by a torn Achilles), Bryant averaged 27.3 points and shot 46.3 percent from the field.
His contract expires at the end of this season, too, leading to widespread speculation that 2015-16 will be the last we see of the Los Angeles Lakers legend on the hardwood.
According to coach Byron Scott, he will give the veteran limited minutes but that will still depend on Kobe Bryant. Kobe Bryant return should extend beyond what is predicted by the public.
In an interview with the Times Picayune from New Orleans, he observed that the quicker paced games are the order of the day and this trend is here to stay.
Morgan also took on Los Angeles Lakers star Kobe Bryant as part of the game’s promotion, but as good as both of them are at their respective sports, Morgan admitted that they were both pretty bad.
“If I hadn’t got hurt I would have went on and played my last season to try and break Wilt Chamberlain’s scoring record”, O’Neal added. But that’s my top five for playing reasons and what they did.
For O’Neal, guards like Bryant have more opportunities to continue their playing careers due to the natural role of their position on the court and in the game’s offense.
No matter Bryant’s decision on his playing future, what’s ultimately most important is that he goes out on his own terms – a decision O’Neal, apparently, wasn’t lucky enough to make. “I want to make sure I do everything in my power to make sure we stick to the game plan, as far as his minutes and as far as back-to-back games”.
O’Neal labored through right leg injuries for the entirety of his final National Basketball Association season.
This was the third straight season-ending injury for the former Most Valuable Player.
Scott also disclosed that he talked to Kobe Bryant about playing time and he wants him to be consistent the whole season.
