NFL Fantasy Football: Week 3 quarterback rankings
There is little doubt this will go down as Luck’s worst game this season, and fantasy owners just have to chalk it up to a bad game by an underrated defense.
But it’s only Week 2, and while we need to react, let’s continue to respect the process. Week 2 showed the world why running backs are viewed as a dime a dozen. Last week seemed like a flawless opportunity to sell high on Alfred Morris.
Jones had quite the coming out party on Sunday, going off for 146 total yards and two touchdowns on 22 touches against the St. Louis Rams.
The fantasy football season is already shaping up to be a weird one. It was night and day.
Even with T.Y. Hilton getting healthy, Donte Moncrief should be owned in all leagues moving forward. At the very least, Jones is worth having on your roster. He also had six receptions on nine targets for 98 yards.
Unfortunately, fumbles forced him out of the game, and Giovani Bernard stepped up. The surprises are only starting, and injuries will pick off a few notable players every week.
I’m not buying into this as anything more than some single-game punishment for Hill. Yet somehow I got the win. I’m as skeptical as you are, because Matthews doesn’t appear to be anything special. Look at the top three running backs from this week. Hill was the more efficient runner (0.09 Rushing NEP per rush versus -0.04) as well. Keep in mind that it’s just one game. There is too much great potential here to rest on any laurels. Expect the Eagles to balance things out more this week after running the ball just 16 times in the opener, but Bradford should still throw the ball 30-plus times. Apparently, anyone who thought that was way off on their prediction, because Williams is fresh off an wonderful Week 2 performance.
In Week 2, things shifted a bit.
Brees admitted after the game that the hit he took impacted him “maybe on a few throws”. He’s also in several fantasy leagues, including one with his brother Austin, and other members of Richard Childress Racing. For a waiver wire TE, you can’t ask for much more than that. When he’s not busy winning fantasy football championships, he enjoys reading detective novels and taking naps. I fear he will not last, which would be a shame, because he brings an element to the Patriots’ offense that no other current Patriot can. The Patriots obviously want to use Lewis in their offense, meaning he’s becoming an interesting fantasy play. If McCown is playing, I think I might hear my lawnmower calling. Have I hammered the point of not overreaction enough yet? That should help you get a sense of the team you plan to start and how it stacks up against the team you’re facing in Week 2. It’ll be a situation to monitor heading into Monday against KC.
With Andre Ellington out, David Johnson is the Cardinal RB to own.
David Johnson is physically gifted.
The Dolphins really can’t run the ball right now.
WR Brandin Cooks, New Orleans Saints. Defensive coordinators will eventually figure out how to shut that down, especially given how erratic quarterback play can be in Cleveland. And I don’t mean players who have been in the league for just five or six years. I have no idea. Dion Lewis has played well these opening games with 258 yards from scrimmage. “Jones is a solid deep threat and at 6’2” is also a pretty decent red-zone guy. It was obvious that Chip Kelly fully planned to utilize Murray against his old team, but it didn’t matter. Freeman can help you in all league sizes and is worth a little more in PPR formats. The Saints offensive line was destroyed by the Buccaneers in the first half and again in the fourth quarter. I know the Falcons have given me everything I’ve hoped for thus far.
The problem is that Dalton has had two straight favorable matchups.
Four other quarterbacks, like Brady this season, scored exactly 55 through two games.
Dalton struggles against his division rivals. I had Knowshon Moreno a few years back, and had Anderson last year. I expect defenses to begin jamming Benjamin within the first five yards to disrupt the timing between he and Johnny Football. No thanks. But that was before he suffered a knee sprain and missed the end of the preseason and Week 1.
Cleveland Browns wide receiver Travis Benjamin catches a 50-yard…
The Panthers are owned in nearly half of NFL.com leagues, so they’re nearly out of the streaming territory.
I did a study back in August that looked at regression from an efficiency standpoint at the running back position.
Justin Forsett, RB: Filed to ESPN: The Raiders are stinky.
Lorenzo Taliaferro, RB, BAL (2% owned).
Despite the Browns’ shellacking of Tennessee this weekend, Marcus Mariota had a solid fantasy performance and should be owned as a backup in all 12-man leagues. He unleashed 52 passes in Week 1 against the Falcons.
Avoid Ryan Mallett as well; if a guy can’t create more than 20 fantasy points on 58 total attempts, it’s bad news. He topped that just twice last season. With Bell returning to the fold this week, Williams’ value plummets, though his success does bode well for Bell’s return.
The DS crew is recapping a frustrating week in fantasy football, led by the Eagles’ surprising lack of offense. LeGarrette Blount, back from suspension, only got two carries in Week 2 against the Buffalo Bills.
While Williams may have a larger role than Blount did, he’s not going to have predictable production.
According to our numbers, the Browns have the 12th best defense in football.
Defenses: Jets, Patriots and Steelers are all projected to put some points on the board this week. Yes, Oakland looked strong offensively against the Ravens, but they haven’t done that consistently. Well, I’m picking up Hillman if I can – through the waiver wire or even trade. Well, trust Vegas outside of Week 2’s debacle, that is.
