‘Castle’ season 8 premiere spoilers: Beckett becomes captain but goes missing

Now we learn that, despite all the many years of characterization stating that Beckett would be miserable as a captain, Beckett has become a captain. But the question remains: How much life is left in the show? Known for its cliffhangers, the upcoming season is reportedly starting fresh with changes and reinvention as its themes, both in storylines and production. We’ve done 151 episodes. That is how he ends up in the apartment the murdered men were renting and how he meets Hailey.

“[Toks] plays a really dynamic, fun character”, Hawley tells EW. We start having some fun cases.

“The DNA of the show will always be the ongoing love story between Castle and Beckett”, Winter told TV Insider.

As you all know, Beckett has made up her mind on where she’s going career wise.

It’s that attitude and energy that Hayley brings to the show that the producers are hoping will blow up existing character dynamics. Castle’s daughter Alexis (Molly C. Quinn) was excelling in college, Beckett’s colleagues Esposito (Jon Huertas) and Ryan (Seamus Dever) were riding high on their latest win and Castle’s actress mom Martha (Susan Sullivan) was a hit on Broadway.

“No one needs to trust her. I don’t think they need to”, Olagundoye explains. It felt like it was time to grow [Alexis] up in a fairly substantial way. But don’t fret. Viewers will get to see Beckett’s side of the situation in a follow-up episode.

“She’s not an ivory-tower boss who stays in her office doing paperwork”, Winter said. They call Castle because Beckett isn’t answering her phone and the writers needed some reason for Castle to be in this theater.

But Hawley says it’s most important to have the conflict come out of character. However, a big part of the episode will be Castle’s search for Beckett. “What happens when a 16-year obsession suddenly ends?” So the exciting thing about the show is that you can tell all kinds of different stories. There’s an opportunity to get a little bit deeper into these people… and sometimes things get a little messy. Toks is playing a character named Hayley who is an independent investigator with a little bit of a questionable law enforcement past. “It was built out of their sexual tension”. Adds Winter: “We’ve had the honeymoon past year “. “Obviously we have no control of that”.

After a harrowing fight to break free from his captures Castle (suffering from spider bites probably) is knocked down and looking down a barrel of the gun when none other than our favorite NYPD Captain comes in, shooting the captures dead.

When ABC’s CASTLE ended its seventh season this spring, it looked as though the series might be wrapping up.
