Ambulance crewmember dies in collision on western New York road; vehicle hits
Monroe County Sheriff’s Deputies say the ambulance slammed into the rear end of a slow-moving backhoe while rushing to a call Bovee Road.
It’s believed sun glare was a factor in the accident, which happened at about 7:15 a.m. on Bovee Road in the Town of Riga. Czudak told deputies they were answering a medical call to a Riga home and he had reduced speed because of sun glare and patches of fog in the area.
Miller was a 31-year veteran EMT and chief of the Bergen Emergency Medical Services.
The local publication Democrat and Chronicle reported the victim was male, the driver way also male and a female crew member was in the back at the time of the crash. EMT Gina Bliss was treated for minor injuries.
The backhoe driver was not injured.
