Next Bond will be male & white: Pierce Brosnan
“Spectre” will see Craig suiting up as Bond for the fourth time but there is no word whether he will return for a fifth stint or not.
According to Variety, everyone has been discussing who or who would not play the legendary role and that includes former Bond himself.
Anything is possible for sure, but I think he’ll be male and he’ll be white.
He said: “There’s wonderful black actors out there who could be James Bond, and there’s no reason why you cannot have a black James Bond“.
Tom Hardy is also a hot favourite to play James Bond, following his powerhouse performance as both Kray twins in the current crime biopic Legend.
Mirror added that Brosnan was quite vocal about how there could not be a female Bond because right from the beginning the James Bond has been male, he is a guy and his name is Bond, James Bond.
Horowitz drew a lot of flak and criticism for his comments, and the author immediately offered an apology and explanation after, saying that he’s simply a writer and not a casting director, so his statements should bear no weight as to who the next Bond will be.
“I want Michael Peña to be James Bond“.
“I’m so Americanized after 30 years of living here”.
Pierce Brosnan has waded back into the debate over whether a black actor could ever take over as 007. Sorry, “American Gangster” fans, he didn’t choose Idris Elba. “And it’s something that we’re going to struggle with until we figure it out, we haven’t yet, but we’re getting there”. You know Peña from his memorable turns in Crash, The Shield or this summer’s Ant-Man.
Its hard to imagine why Craig would retire as Bond.
SPECTRE is out in United Kingdom cinemas on October 26.
Elba has the far bleaker Beasts Of No Nation out in theaters and on Netflix on Oct. 16, while Ejiofor and Peña have The Martian out on Oct. 2.
