American Airlines Fixes Connectivity Issues, Flights Resume
The problem was corrected by 12:30 p.m., but the airline did not lift the ground stop until about 1:15 in order to realign flights.
The airline apologized via twitter for “connectivitiy issues” at Chicago O’Hare global Airport, Miami worldwide Airport and Dallas/Fort Worth Airport.
American didn’t instantly say what number of flights have been affected.
The airline later said that it had resolved its “connectivity issues”.
The carrier has fixed the technical problems, which it said were caused by “connectivity issues”, that started at noon Eastern, a company spokesman said. “We’re sorry and will have you on your way soon”, American Airlines tweeted at 2.14pm Eastern time (2.14am Singapore time Friday).
American said about 300 flights were delayed at the three airports.
American is preparing to integrate US Airways’ passenger reservation system with its own in October. Chicago’s O’Hare global Airport, meanwhile, is a crucial hub in the national air travel system, and flight delays there and at other hubs can reverberate across the country.
The American outage Thursday is reminiscent of two massive groundings that hit rival United Airlines earlier this year.
American has made meticulous plans to keep away from an analogous destiny. Among other moves, it will reduce flights to lighten the load on its network while it combines the two reservations systems.
“For the entire day American has eight flights between Springfield and DFW”.
