Butler Co. deputy who assisted homeless family helps mom secure apartment
“I’ve been asked several times what went through my head at that moment, and honestly, there was no time to think; that’s how much time I had to decide to shoot him or not. He will always be my guardian angel”, says Gray.
According to the news outlet, Gray’s husband is working in Cincinnati and the family hopes to be back on their feet and in a more stable living situation soon. God has blessed us this week and I don’t know what I would have done.
A southwest Ohio sheriff’s office is praising one of its deputies who quietly went out of his way to help a homeless family he spotted in a jail waiting room.
The Sheriff’s office found out about Bussell’s act of kindness when someone called the office to ask about the photo. “I assumed they were here to visit someone in our jail”.
But that’s not what Bussell had in store for Gray and her children.
Gray informed WCPO 9 that she and her sons have bounced from friends to family to church members’ homes after her landlord evicted her when she missed a rent payment.
“He told me that he was going to help and that we were going to get everything we need taken care of, and I just cried,” said Gray to WLWT. “He did not tell anyone at work what he had done but the lady took a picture with him and posted it on Facebook”. They boys got new clothes, toiletries and snacks. He paid for everything out of his own pocket.
Her 8-year-old son Ziare gained a new superhero.
“There are good cops,” Gray added.
Like many superheroes, though, Bussell kept his gallant actions to himself. This officer, officer Brian Bussel from butler county sheriff’s department, has truly blessed me and my family. I knew God has a reason for everything he does even though we have been going through storm after storm our rainbow sure has come this morning…
But Bussell’s kind deeds didn’t end there.
“I am pleased that he was able to help this family out,” the sheriff said.
“This speaks volumes in light of all the recent negativity people are saying about law enforcement”, said Sheriff Jones.
