Keith Richards Announces Solo Album
Let’s all applaud Keith Richards for surviving the ’60s – or, well, just surviving.
Despite recording with the Stones since the early 1960s, this will be only his third solo album. The iconic Rolling Stones guitarist has confirmed the upcoming release of his first solo album in 23 years, titled Crosseyed Heart.
“There’s nothing like walking into a studio and having absolutely no idea what you’re going to come out with on the other end”, Richards said.
“If you’re looking for Trouble, you’ve come to the right place”, he added, quoting the Jerry Leiber and Mike Stoller blues song famously recorded by Elvis Presley that is Richards’ first single from the album, to be released July 17.
The Rolling Stones aren’t even done their North American Zip Code Tour, and they’ve already announced a career-spanning museum display called EXHIBITIONISM that will tour the word starting next year. Special guests include jazz singer Norah Jones, who co-wrote the ballad “Illusion“, and Aaron Neville, who provides backing vocals on the track “Nothing on Me“.
Look for “Trouble” to drop, the album’s first single.
Richards, 71, plays electric and acoustic guitars, bass, and piano and sings vocals on the 15-track album.
It’s hard to say whether the solo release might hinder the chances of a future Rolling Stones studio album.
