Iranian migrant ‘fed up’ of Manchester demands return
Arash Aria was arrested after telling officers he had been staying in the United Kingdom illegally for 10 years but he was later released when immigration checks found he did have permission to live in the country. It’s words, violence, many things. I don’t get the respect I should here.
“Particularly in the previous year it’s got really bad”.
“I’m sure Iran is a attractive place… but we couldn’t find out what had been going on because he just was not listening”.
Having previously worked as a waiter and barman, the 25-year-old said he is now unemployed and was hoping to return to Shiraz in south-west Iran when his expired Iranian passport is renewed.
Officers have now tweeted that they’ve told him he’ll have to put up, or find his own way back.
The Greater Manchester police tweeted about the exchange, adding that they had handed over the man to the United Kingdom immigration services.
Detective sergeant David Henshall, who was on duty at the time of the incident on Monday, told the Independent an “agitated and angry” man around 25 years old began “shouting and screaming” about wanting to go home.
The man was later de-arrested following immigration checks.
