Valley Fire Update: Another Body Found In Lake County
Authorities say the body was found Tuesday night in the rubble of a fire in Lake County, about 100 miles north of San Francisco.
The Valley Fire is the third most destructive in the state’s history, leaving the bodies of three residents, Bruce Beven Burns, Leonard Neft, and Barbara McWilliams buried in the rubble of structures that once stood tall in the region.
President Barack Obama has declared the Lake County fire a major disaster, releasing federal money for recovery and cleanup and grant money for temporary housing and home repairs.
“It kind of looked like a big explosion happened out there from Salinas”, she said.
Another body has been found in a burned-out home in Northern California, bringing the death toll to six from two of the state’s more destructive wildfires in recent memory, authorities said Wednesday.
Several Red Cross officials working in Lake and Napa counties defended the group’s altruistic efforts and track record for quickly dispatching highly-skilled representatives and volunteers able to direct people in crisis to immediate and longterm services.

“I said no. We had volunteers who were willing to continue to take it. We made sure that was able happen”.
When 25-mph winds pushed the deadly Valley Fire through the dry hills of Lake County, residents had little time to flee.
Four people have been killed in the Valley Fire.
The National Interagency Fire Center said almost 9 million acres of forested land have been burned this year.
