Cincinnati Bearcats at Memphis Tigers: Betting odds, point spread and tv streaming
The Memphis Tigers (3-0) host the Cincinnati Bearcats (2-1) in a key American showdown Thursday night. That success can be directly attributed to the growth of junior quarterback Paxton Lynch.
Cincinnati is getting a lot of points here as well, but with how efficient Memphis has been this year, it’s tough to see them slowing down. Jarvis Cooper leads the team with 36 carries and 174 yards on the season. That last drive was really good. Even then, the 579 total yards allowed to Bowling Green should be taken with a grain of salt. Memphis has eight sacks on the year, but has yet to force an interception. Boone and Green each have three TDs. Watch out for hybrid end/linebacker Jackson Dillon.
Memphis is 3-0 on the season, 2-1 against the spread and 3-0 with the over.
My prediction for Thursday night’s game: the Memphis offense will simply be too much for Cincinnati to handle. The Bearcats can’t stop the run consistently, can’t bring a consistent pass rush and have been unable to force turnovers.
Cincinnati has wins over Alabama A&M and Miami (OH). Giving up rushing yards to Temple? Defensively, Cincy is allowing 25.7 points and 330 yards per game. They are a feel-good program in a sport that lacks real feel-good stories. Memphis sports a balanced offensive attack and Lynch may be the best quarterback the Bearcats face all season. The Cincinnati Bearcats ground game is averaging 236 yards per contest, and Tion Green leads the way with 252 yards and three touchdowns. He’s one of our team captains. Cincinnati provides a ideal opportunity for the Tigers defense to get on track with turnovers. “He’s 6-7, he can run, he throws the ball with accuracy, and throws the deep ball well”.
After the game Saturday, Tuberville said that Kiel had hit his head on the turf.
That’s all fine and dandy, but the real crux of this matchup is Kiel’s health. Redshirt freshman QB Hayden Moore committed four turnovers in a relief role last week, with two mishaps on fumbled exchanges with running backs.
“We can’t play like we’ve played the last three weeks on the road against a team like Memphis”, Tuberville said. The last prime-time appearance on ESPN for the Tigers came in 2008, when the U of M and Louisville played a Friday night game.
The Bearcats, who began the season with great promise, have not played up to their potential. Against Cincinnati’s low ranked defense, this trend should continue. Gantz was 3-for-3 on field goals and 4-for-4 on extra points last week. He picked out the right guy to throw it to on his progression. He’s 21-for-21 on extra points and 5-for-5 on field goals with a long of 52 yards.
Tuberville had no timetable for when a decision at quarterback would be made. Fair enough. Lynch is a very talented player with a number of weapons at his disposal offensively.
Great as the Tigers offense may be they will eventually need help from the defense in creating possessions.
“There was nobody else to put in, so he knew that the ball was in his hands”. The only chance for derailment will occur if turnovers become a factor, something that Memphis has done very little thus far in 2015.
