Kurt Cobain Beatles Cover Set for Seven-Inch Release
Though nothing has been made official just yet, a listing for the 7-inch recently surfaced online [via Modern-Vinyl] and says that it will feature Cobain’s cover of the Beatles’ 1964 single, “And I Love Her”.
Eight years in the making, Brett Morgen’s Kurt Cobain: Montage of Heck uncovers a wealth of new material that exposes the emotional rollercoaster of Cobain’s personal life and celebrates his uncompromising creative spirit, including the inspiration for the film’s title, a circa-1988 sound collage he titled Montage of Heck. The cover, which was first aired during Brett Morgen’s documentary Montage of Heck, will be backed by the rare Cobain song Sappy.
A previously unheard track of Kurt Cobain covering the Beatles will be available this fall. Word of the seven-inch initially spread on the Vinyl Collector forum, where a pre-order link was posted.
” I found it on a random tape”, he said. “The vinyl 7” is slated for release two weeks later, on November 20. “The director told Billboard, “[The compilation] is curated to feel as though one were sitting in Kurt’s living room watching him create over the course of an afternoon”. Morgen describes the music featured as ranging “from thrash to ragtime and everything in between”.
Frances Bean Cobain, who has been dating Eeries singer Isaiah Silva since 2010, allegedly did not invite mother Courtney to the ceremony, but phoned her afterwards to let her know.
