Film Producer Alejandro Gómez Monteverde’s Father & Brother Found Dead After

The Latin Times reports that the bodies of Monteverde’s father and brother, Juan Manuel Gómez Fernéndez and Juan Manuel Gómez Monteverde, were found in a remote region known as El Chachalaco, of Pueblo Viejo, northern Veracruz on September 19. Televisa news anchor Carlos Loret de Mola reported that the ransom for their release was paid, but that the kidnappers refused to keep their word.

Tampico native Eduardo Verástegui, who produced Alejandro’s film Little Boy, tweeted out sentiments to the family: “With a heart full of pain and sadness, I ask for prayers for my friend and “compadre” Alejandro Gomez Monteverde and all his family”.

They were kidnapped from their home in nearby Tamaulipas roughly two weeks ago.

Monteverde, 38, is recognized for his films “Bella” and “Little Boy“, the former having taken first place at the Toronto global Film Festival in 2006. In a statement from the Attorney General’s Office in Veracruz, it said that the authorities in Tamaulipas are now investigating the deaths and that the police are using forensic testing on a vehicle they suspect was used by the kidnappers.

Juan Manuel was a business partner at the La Pecerita restaurant that had allegedly been connected with drug cartel activity.

The local government has been fighting this type of violent crime with debatable results.

Landry, who is known as being crowned Miss US in 1996 and is famous for her brief marriage to Mario Lopez in 2004, and her husband have not spoken out about the tragic news. The director lives with Landry and their three children.
