Verizon Wireless sends Oregon couple $2M bill
Mr. Slusher is scheduled to close on his new house next week, but says his mortgage company won’t sign off on a loan because of the issue, Fox reported. Slusher and his girlfriend opened the Verizon account last November, where they purchased two smartphones. They only kept the service for one month after noticing major discrepancies on their bills.
When Slusher checked his Verizon account on Monday, he found out about the now $2,156,593.64 balance.
Verizon says it’s an error in the automated voice system and they’ve cleared it up. One couple received a $2.1 million bill from Verizon Wireless, after Ken Slusher from Damascus, Oregon received his bill for $2,156,593.64.
“Yeah, it’s been very stressful to say the least”, Ken Slusher said about the bill.
An Oregon man was told he owes Verizon more than $2 million for a cellphone bill – and the fiasco could cost him his home. His next statement asked for just $9.
After they canceled the service, they started receiving demands from a number of collection agencies asking for thousands of dollars.
The reason this is more of a problem than a laugh is that it’s ruining their credit, and they’re trying to buy a home.
‘If I don’t get this straightened out in the next 24 hours, I can nearlyguarantee I’ll lose this house, ‘ he told FOX12. However, while customer service reps have said they agree there’s been a mistake, collection agencies have come calling.
Instead, it was for $698 and showed a previous balance of $451.
Late Tuesday evening, a Verizon spokeswoman said they will look into it.
“If we can get some sort of response from Verizon in any way, shape, or form, an apology would be nice”, Slusher said.
It said: ‘We are correcting the error now and have resolved the issue to his satisfaction’.
This isn’t the first time a phone company has issued a statement that boggles the mind.
