Nigerian Troops Raid Boko Haram Camps, Arrest Kingpin, 43 Others, Free 241
Nigeria troops have captured a Boko Haram kingpin, Bulama Modu, along the Banki axis of Borno, alongside 43 other Boko Haram terrorists.
This follows operations leading to the troops cleared two Boko Haram terrorists camps at Jangurori and Bulatori villages.
He said: “one Mohammed Modu led troops to where he buried his AK-47 rifle at Jangurori village”.
An AK47, bows and arrows and a horse that had been given to Modu were confiscated by the military.
Nigerian troops have pushed closer to seizing those responsible for organizing a recent attack in northern Cameroon as a suspected militant, Aji Gambo, arrested in Wudla village, gave up names of those who helped stage the attack.
He further stated that the suicide bombers and the IED were prepared by Abdulrahaman Alkali Isa, Ba’ana Hisuba and Alkali Isa Karami, natives of Dara Jamel, adding however that the perpetrators have fled to Sumbulum village.
He added that the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General TY Buratai, commended the troops for their impressive performance.
Amnesty worldwide said earlier this year that Boko Haram had seized more than 2,000 women and girls since January 2014, as part of their quest to establish a hardline Islamic state in the region.
Buhari, in a statement by his Special Senior Assistant on Media and Publicity, Shehu Garba, on Wednesday, said he had directed the Armed Forces and other security agencies to provide maximum security across the nation during the Eid-el-Kabir prayers and celebrations, especially in areas most vulnerable to terrorist attacks.
The troops who are on very high spirits have reiterated their determination to continue with the fight against Boko Haram terrorists till they clear them from all known camps and enclaves.
Meanwhile, the Army has announced a restriction of movement in Borno State for vehicles during the Eid El Kabir celebrations from 5pm yesterday, until the celebrations are over.
The statement said, “President Buhari assures all Nigerians that the days of Boko Haram are numbered”.
