Dallas Still Strong Without Bryant and Romo?
The Dallas Cowboys won the game, but they may have lost their season after quarterback Tony Romo was knocked out of the game with a fractured left clavicle in the Cowboys’ 20-10 victory over the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday at Lincoln Financial Field. “Your body kind of goes into a little bit of shock”, the quarterback said in a Yahoo Sports report. “It’s a broken bone”.
Also, let us not forget that Tebow only has one less playoff win than Romo. It’s not an easy place to come in and win.
“We got out there and were stagnant”, Johnson said. Quarterbacking this team week after week, until Romo returns. He said the Cowboys weren’t doing anything new but the Eagles “just didn’t block them”. Fletcher Cox recovered Romo’s fumble and Bradford drove the offense to the Cowboys 3 before Sean Lee intercepted his pass in the end zone.
The Cowboys are already without wide receiver Dez Bryant, who is expected to miss at least a month with a broken right foot.
Romo is a candidate for the Cowboys’ now unused Injured Reserve/Designated to Return roster spot, although he insisted that tag – which would require him to miss eight weeks – was far too long.
The game was ugly offensively most of the time, but Tony Romo and Brandon Weeden compiled a combined 106 QB rating. He had a awful outing last season against the Arizona Cardinals, but he was basically flawless against Philadelphia when he replaced Romo, going 7-7 passing and a touchdown that iced the game late.
The Cowboys start their time without Romo next Sunday as they are set to take on the Atlanta Falcons. As depressing as this loss was, it’s still early in the season and the NFC East is a joke, so instead of wallowing in the loss, just turn off ESPN for the week and act like this game did not happen.
Last year, a similar situation occurred.
Murray, the reigning National Football League rushing champion, had 2 yards rushing on 13 carries in his first game against his former team. Bradford threw another interception in the fourth quarter, when the ball bounced off Zach Ertz’s hands and J.J. Wilcox grabbed it. Brady was 38 for 59 for 466 yards and three scores in a 40-32 victory at Buffalo that made the Patriots 2-0 and left Bills coach Rex Ryan saying: “I’ve been on the wrong end of it a few times when the kid gets hot, and Brady was hot”. We’re all still waiting on that.
Sam Bradford got sacked once, but the bigger failure of the offensive line was leaving the running backs out to dry.
