Cantona vows to house and feed refugees
Cantona will provide a house and food for refugees.
“I’m organising that with authorities in Marseille”, Cantona explained, outlining his intention to house a family in a small property with a garden.
Former Manchester United star Eric Cantona has pledged to house and feed a family of refugees for at least the next two years.
According to Mundo Deportivo, Cantona, whose maternal grandparents were also refugees who escaped General Franco’s dictatorship, has publicly announced his commitment to help the Syrian refugees in need by ceding his own personal home to them. “That being our story, it certainly played a role”, explained Cantona on Tuesday.
Despite all his flaws and wrongdoings in the past, he is now well-motivated and encouraged to help refugees as his maternal grandparents were Republican refugees who fled the Franco regime in Spain, crossing the Pyrenees mountain range on foot to reach France.
French President Francois Hollande has agreed to take 24,000 migrants over two years. “I can not stand what it does to us”. Cantona, who has delved into the acting profession since his retirement from football in 1997, will follow in the footsteps of numerous other high-profile footballing figures old and new who have revealed their individual support over the widespread emergency.
