Uzo Aduba Gets Emotional After Receiving Second Emmy Award
In a video posted online, the Orange Is The New Black actress could be seen following her mother who was seated in a wheelchair.
In a field where so much is based on artifice, it was refreshing to see someone get so downright honest. “I love you so much”, Aduba began.
“I appreciate you for putting belief back in my heart”, she addressed Jenji Kohan, before thanking everyone involved with her show.
This makes it her second straight win seeing as she got an award for Outstanding Guest Actress at the 2014 Emmys.
However, Aduba revealed in the press room shortly after receiving the honor that there was one person in particular who was responsible for causing her eyes to swell with tears.
“These are people who have helped me read lines for auditions and stayed up late learning the script with me, and my mom has stood for me when I couldn’t stand myself and carried me in time when I was weak”, she said. Thanks for making the show, creating the platform. “So it felt extra special to give her that thanks that she so deserves and that I feel daily for her tonight with her live”. Backstage, she opened up to ET’s Kevin Frazier about the emotional moment. I don’t know about the rest of you, but I have some wine and chocolates to buy for my sisters.
Fan favorite and newly minted Emmy award victor Uzo Aduba is going home with more than a golden trophy. She is only the second actor in history to win an Emmy for playing the same role in two different genres, after actor Ed Asner. Because I had been hearing “No, no, thank you, but no”, since trying this medium.
Orange is the New Black has been renewed for a fourth season, which will stream on Netflix next June.
