3 More Sequels, Link to ‘Alien,’ Ridley Scott Says — Prometheus’ Sequel News
Neill Blomkamp is now working on Alien 5 and that’s going to be interesting for the future. What the hell? Why wasn’t the first one Alien: Prometheus (besides sounding real stupid) or something similar? Now, riding high on rave reviews for The Martian, the legendary (and legendarily hit-and-miss) filmmaker has started talking about not just Prometheus 2, but Prometheus 3. However, calling it Alien: Paradise Lost definitely points to it sharing more in common with that classic quadrilogy than its predecessor.
On top of the potential for multiple Prometheus sequels, it remains to be seen how 20th Century Fox will move forward with the main Alien franchise. So what exactly is happening over at Blompkamp’s camp?
As a director who has been around nearly as long as they have been putting subliminal messages in Disney films, Ridley Scott has a lot of creative control with his projects.
On Wednesday, we reported how Ridley Scott “hates mystery and wants three more Prometheus films”.
This is the first we’re hearing that Scott has plans for such a massive franchise, but it looks like we’ll be seeing plenty more of it alongside the new Alien movies. I always thought of the Alien as kind of a piece of bacterial warfare. “For me, the original spaceship that I call the croissant, a warship that contains these biomechanoids creatures, which is all about destruction”, Scott told German site FilmFutter. The movie will aim to explain how and why aliens came to be, the report adds.
Prometheus 2 will begin filming in February of 2016.
As for the title itself.
“Paradise Lost” became a trending term on Twitter and had many users excited for the movie, but some confused by the name of the movie or it was the poem. “Whatever it’s called, it’s someplace handsome”. The director said that “Paradise Lost” was actually the title of English poet John Milton’s famous work about the fall of man. “You know the poem?”
Shaw’s Father: Cause that’s what I choose to believe. “What do you believe, darling?” he responds.
