Theatergoer tries to charge cell phone on stage during performance
The fake one, a part of the set – onstage.
Set designer Beowulf Boritt should feel flattered that the outlet looked real enough to be used for that, but, of course, it was a prop outlet.
Broadway World reports that it was unclear whether or not the man was acting on a dare or sincerely was looking to juice up his phone.
A theatre-goer shocked audience members after jumping up on stage to charge his phone – in what he thought was a plug socket on the wall.
Hand To God actor Sarah Stiles questioned whether the audience member was influenced by a full moon or if he was just an idiot.
A Broadway theatre set appears to have been so realistic that a New York theatregoer attempted to plug his mobile phone into a fake powerpoint on the stage. “@HandtoGodBway #fullmoon or #idiot?”
Both Twitter and Facebook lit up Sunday evening and Monday morning after other cast members and folks in the crowd posted their astonished reactions to the audience member’s freakish effort to stay connected by any means possible – or impossible.
After the incident, an announcement was reportedly made to warn any other audience members to avoid any similar acts.
The shamed theatergoer then had to return to the stage to take his device back as the crowd heckled him, and the production started later than usual.
