Android Auto Update Coming to 14 Chevrolet Vehicles in March 2016
Take a look at what Chevrolet 2016 vehicle models will be available with Android Auto support.
If you are looking to buy a new auto in the near future, then it would be worth considering some of the General Motors Chevy cars.
“Thanks to the hard work and determination of our engineering team, Chevrolet consumers who use Android phones will not have to compromise when choosing which MyLink system meets their needs – both the seven-inch and eight-inch systems will offer Android Auto capability”, said Alan Batey, president GM North America and Global Chevrolet.
Early this year, the carmaker had promised that it will be adding Android Auto (and iOS’s CarPlay) compatibility to its cars. Just plug in either of the phone in the USB port of the auto to launch either of the operating systems.
A “Projection” icon changes to indicate that a smartphone is connected. Apps must be downloaded and installed on the phone before they can be used with MyLink. All of this is done by simply plugging your handset into your vehicle.
This is going to be a huge leap for comfort while traveling as drivers would need not to hold their phones anymore to answer calls which means they can focus on the road instead which will eventually lead to the reduction of auto accidents due to use of mobile devices.
Chevrolet will be enabling Android Auto on the following cars; Spark, Cruze (Excludes Limited), Malibu (Excludes Limited), Camaro, Camaro Convertible, Silverado, Silverado HD, Impala, Volt, Corvette, Corvette Convertible, Colorado, Tahoe, Suburban. For those who wanted more details on the new platform, Chevrolet has since posted a press release detailing how the update will be issued to its customers, and for starters it will require owners to own a vehicle with an 8-inch MyLink system. It was the first brand to introduce Siri Eyes Free functionality and the first auto company to offer available OnStar 4G LTE connectivity across a range of cars, trucks and crossovers in the USA and Canada.
