Google Voice Search for Android and iOS Becomes Better, Faster, Stronger
That being said, there is always room for improvement and the good news is that for users of Google’s voice search, the company has announced that they have made some improvements to the feature, in which it will now be faster and more accurate.
The latest development in the way Google Now users interact with their devices through speech involves the so-called Connectionist Temporal Classification (CTC) and sequence discriminative training techniques, which improved on the Deep Neural Networks (DNNs) technology that Google adopted in 2012. It allows Google to better capture and analyze audio inputs, especially in noisy environments. Google said it managed to prevent delays by using prediction based on “ground-truth” timing of speech.
The result is that Google’s voice recognition software can now prove accurate even in loud environments, where every last part of a spoken word might not necessarily be clear. It also added multilingual voice search as a part of the Google Search update for Android.
Right now, the betterments to effectively Google voice search comes in the Google Search applications for ipad mini and Android. If you are interested in the nitty gritty of how it works, you can head on over to Google’s blog for the more technical details.
