Janet Jackson can still Burn it Up

Fast forward a few weeks, and here it is. This time, she enlists Missy Elliott to “BURNITUP!“.

“When the DJ play this we’re going to dance like no one’s watching, hey Mr. DJ hit that track and turn it up”, sings Miss Jackson.

Like Janet, Missy’s been slowly working her way back into our lives lately – because dreams do come true – starting with her feature on Faith Evans’ “I Deserve It” a year ago and then with her surprise Super Bowl halftime performance alongside Katy Perry in February.

Missy is absolutely thrilled about the reunion with Janet, with whom she collaborated in 2001 on Son of a Gun (I Betcha Think This Song Is About You)! “So for me I’m honoured to be on any Janet record”. The pair have always been friends and it’s great to hear them both sounding fresh as ever here.

The leading single off “Unbreakable” is “No Sleep”, an R&B ballad in Janet’s typical sound, which she dedicated to her husband Wissam Al Mana. Cole). And today (Sept. 25), Jackson released the song on social media with a message to her fans.
