Twitter Testing New Way to Poll Users on Desktop and Mobile
And while we only had a few leaks from here and there on the same, Twitter, in a statement sent to VentureBeat, has now confirmed that it is indeed experimenting with such a thing. The latest addition is a new tool that lets users create polls and track results.
Would you use a poll on Twitter? It is not known for now whether the company will roll-out this capability to all its 316 million monthly active users. It’s still in the experimental stage (meaning it could get shelved), but today’s announcement may certainly signal a move toward a wider rollout.
It isn’t clear what is now powering these polling tweets, so it is likely in-house as opposed to a third party solution teaming up with Twitter to display their polls in tweets. It’s been observed that all polls have a 24-hour time limit.
Twitter is looking at letting users add quick polls to their tweets. The polls appear as a simple question with two different options and an expiration time. Previously, companies were able to poll their followers through custom card polls. If you have the option to add a poll, there will be a new “Poll” box that sites between the location and the character count on the Twitter web client when you go to compose a tweet.
Meanwhile, Twitter is also working on redesigning its “Follow” and “Tweet” buttons, which will be rolled next month.
