He knows when to fold’em: Country music legend Kenny Rogers announces retirement
27 show at Hard Rock Rocksino Northfield Park could be his last performance in the Cleveland area. “Sometimes there’s a fine line between being driven and being selfish, and I think I crossed that line when I was younger”, says the 77-year-old icon. “They’re really very important to me, and I don’t see enough of them”. After six decades in the business and 76 albums, “The Gambler” crooner, 77, announced that he will do one last worldwide tour before hanging up his cowboy hat and boots.
Rogers was formally inducted as a new member of the Country Music Hall of Fame in Nashville in October 2013 and received the Willie Nelson Lifetime Achievement Award at the 47th Annual CMA Awards in the same year. “I’m going to say goodbye at that point”.
On Friday Rogers also released his latest album, “Once Again It’s Christmas” with a number of special guests including Alison Krauss, Western Swing supergroup The Time Jumpers and Home Free. According to Rolling Stone, Rogers hopes to make a photography book.
The superstar will hit the road for his Christmas tour on November 11, which stops at 26 cities, ending on December 23. This time around, though, he’s focusing on landscapes. Moreover, his fans are in for a treat since Rogers has a huge collection. “My mobility is really driving me insane”.
Kenny Rogers is hanging up his mic, but not before a farewell tour. However, the ever-young artist promised one final live appearance after his tour wrapped.
