OJ Simpson Talks Nicole Brown Simpson in Exclusive Look at Forgotten
“We apologize for the mistake”. Those tapes, part of a treasure trove of nearly 150 boxes, have been stored under lock and key for nearly 20 years, gathering dust. Speaks: The Hidden Tapes, which premieres October. 1 at 9 p.m. ET., and the LMN documentary The Secret Tapes of the O.J. Case: The Untold Story, which premieres September 30 at 8 p.m. ET.
ABC News is doing the right thing: “We were wrongly under the impression these deposition tapes were exclusive and had not aired before at length. Check out #Dateline logo from first time we aired the tapes!” it wrote on Twitter, with the hashtag #retro.
In the video deposition, Simpson appeared to be a slippery witness.
“They were ugly to me”, Simpson said, according to ABC News. “I was home”. Petrocelli responds. “Why don’t you ask me?”
“No, I don’t”, says Simpson.
The trial was highly publicized, including an infamous slow-speed Bronco chase, the arrest of the football superstar and the trial that captivated the world.
ABC News this morning apologized for describing as “long lost” the “never before seen” deposition tapes of OJ Simpson made for his civil trial over the murders of his former wife and her friend, on which the news division claimed to have an “exclusive” look.
In the videos, Daniel Petrocelli, who represented plaintiff Frederick Goldman, is seen speaking with Simpson.
“What do you think this reflects?”
Though Simpson was eventually acquitted on criminal murder charges, Jenner said Nicole Brown Simpson had often predicted her own demise at the hands of the Hall of Famer.
But under questioning he admitted that in the past “I hurt my wife, yes”. “I take total responsibility”, he said. “I’ve, all my life with Nicole, no matter what was going on, I handled it without being physical with her. And that time I got physical with her and I’m ashamed of it. I wish it had not happened”.
“It’s astonishing to watch him”.
Petrocelli: “-violent episode, wasn’t it?”
Simpson: “No, it was not”.
Simpson comes across as arrogant and flippant but his eyes almost pop out of his head when he is caught lying about crucial evidence.
Petrocelli then asks Simpson if he cut his finger on a piece of glass.
But that relationship became strained after Ronald Goldman and Nicole Brown Simpson, who had divorced the retired football star, were both found slain in Los Angeles June 12, 1994. And the brand, Bruno Magli, only 299 pairs of that shoe in that size were ever sold in the United States. Simpson says, “No”. “Now, the public can see OJ Simpson answering those questions and they can make up their mind, finally… whether OJ did it or not”, Schiller tells Vargas.
“You thought they, those were ugly-a** shoes?” he said.
“They were ugly to me”. He confirmed that the picture was of himself but denied owning the shoes.
“I think he was shocked”, she said of Robert Kardashian.
During the deposition, Petrocelli asks Simpson if the man in the photo was him. Petrocelli brought Simpson back for another round of questions.
