Yogi Berra, dead at 90, will be remembered for his paradoxical Yogiisms
In a Tweet sent out about 11 p.m. Tuesday, the Yogi Berra Museum reported the Major League Baseball Hall of Fame catcher’s passing. He appeared in commercials and would make appearances.
After his time serving in the Navy, Berra began his playing career, and immediately made an impact.

Berra, a 15-time All Star and record 10-time World Series champion, was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1972. Cherished by fans of the Yankees as the ultimate victor and a key part of their dynasty, he’s also remembered warmly by Mets fans for managing their team to a National League title.
Berra finished his tour of duty with the Mets at the end of the 1975 season and became a bench coach for the Yankees from 1976-83, winning another pair of World Series rings. But he had a big and powerful swing and ended up belting 358 home runs during his storied 18-year career. The Yankees have retired his number eight jersey. “Sharing one of Berra’s most famous quotes, Democratic front-runner Hillary Clinton tweeted “‘Baseball is 90% mental–the other half is physical.’ Yogi gave everything at least 140%.
One afternoon, after attending a movie that had a short piece on India, a friend Jack McGuire Jr. noticed a resemblance between him and the “yogi”, or person who practiced yoga, on the screen.
You didn’t have to know the game to know Yogi.
