Routines announced for opening Strictly performances
Carol and her partner Pasha Kovalev took to the floor to perform the Cha Cha Cha to Thunder in My Heart by Leo Sayer, and unfortunately received a stormy reception – scoring just 16 points to put her bottom of the leader board.
“I was with his for rehearsal three weeks ago just at the start and he was doing a bit of waltzing”, he said.
Jeremy Vine, 50, who is tipped to be the first celebrity booted out, will also do the cha-cha with Karen Clifton, 33.
Irish singer Daniel O’Donnell will debut with a waltz to Ruby Murray’s When Irish Eyes Are Smiling alongside Kristina Rihanoff. That’s if you call the nerve-wracking experience of dancing for the first time in the hope of getting more than a “2” from the judges fun. In general, the women are looking stronger, with Jamelia, Kirsty Gallacher and Helen George all impressing in the group dance.
The bookies’ favourite, pop star Peter Andre, will dance the cha-cha with partner Janette Manrana to Christina Aguilera’s Ain’t No Other Man.
Boxer Anthony and his partner Oti will dance the jive to Wham!’s Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go.
TV chef Ainsley is set to perform the tango with Natalie to the tune of Voulez Vous by Abba.
Finally Anita Rani and Gleb Savchenko danced the Cha Cha Cha to Rather Be by Clean Bandit.
Judges Len Goodman, Darcey Bussell, Bruno Tonioli and Craig Revel Horwood will critique the celebrities, although none of the couples will leave this weekend.
Remember that this weekend no one will be eliminated but the judges’ scores will be carried forward to next week where they’ll be combined with the public vote to decide the bottom two who will have to dance again.
EXCITEMENT is building in the Strictly Come Dancing camp as the contestants’ music and dance styles are announced ahead of the new series on Friday.
